OERLIKON RIRI AND OERLIKON FINEPARTS ARE COMMITTED TO REDUCING THE USE OF PLASTIC

22 April 2024

The companies of Oerlikon Luxury, in line with the requirements of “Fashion Pact”, are working to eliminate single-use or non essential plastic from its packaging and, when this is not a viable o

ption, to find solutions involving the use of recycled plastic:

Among the actions already implemented in the Group plants:

  • replacement of cellophane wrapping with a reusable roll-up net for intercompany transport;
  • use of thinner cellophane (20 µm instead of 50) leading to a decrease of volumes used and CO2 emissions equal to 42% compared to the previous scenario;
  • since 2018, usage of FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified cardboard boxes;
  • introduction of recycled plastic bags and trays to wrap and ship materials;
  • 100% recycled plastic sample folders;
  • adhesive tape made from recycled paper;
  • use of recycled paper to fill, if necessary, empty spaces inside cardboard boxes.

All employees are involved in awareness campaigns on recycling, reducing and optimizing waste.
