During the Lineapelle fair, which took place in Milan from 19th to 21st September 2023, Amom (company in our group, and today part of Oerlikon Fineparts), which designs and produces metal components and fashion jewels for footwear and apparel, had been invited at the “In the Making” workshop as a guest. Lineapelle organized this event in collaboration with Giorgio Linea, a leading leather fashion accessories studio based in Florence.
During the event, where leather was the main focus, Amom stood out among the guests because of its distinguished 60 years’ experience of craftsmanship care and creating high quality products.
On Tuesday 19th September, Amom team organized two different activities run simultaneously: during a first phase, every participant received an assembly kit composed of pliers and the metal body of a flower-shaped brooch, which was then set by choosing the favorite mix of colored stones. The results obtained showed real fashion jewels, made up of different shades and iridescence: the participants were in this way able to experience the world of jewelry and accessories through an activity, whilst using their own creativity and imagination.
Whilst this group finished their project, a model maker from Amom created a completely handcrafted piece made from raw metal in just 40 minutes. In both these sessions the evolution of artisanal skills was discussed, from the work of ancient goldsmiths to the use of current 3D technologies, the knowledge and techniques of the artisan are still essential when working within today’s luxury market.
